We could not have succeeded with our research trip to Kauai for our upcoming book, The Healthy Trekking Guide to Kauai without the help of Aaron Martin of ActivityKauai.com. We are fortunate to have met Aaron. Everybody and their sister on the island is a tour guide, but as you quickly learn, it’s often a sideline to another business they might have. It’s simple enough to help a visitor book a dinner, tour, helicopter tour or zipline experience on the island. But it’s something else again to meet and work with a genuine expert on Kauai who can safely guide you to activities and destinations that are ideally suited for you.
Aaron is that man. Rather, when it comes to Kauai, he is THE MAN.
A resident of Kauai for over 15 years, Aaron built on his background as a seasoned backcountry skiing guide in Utah, an expert sailor who has traveled the world, a world-class ocean kayak expert and guide. Aaron intimately knows the rain forests, the network of hiking trails, the beaches, ocean currents and details about Kauai, their pros and yes, their potential dangers. As enticing as the beaches and back country trails of Kauai might be, Aaron knows the hidden threats first-hand. He knows which beaches have potentially deadly rip currents, which trails are prone to flash flooding, which activities are best for you. Other competing agencies don’t, and often gloss over the potential dangers.
In addition, Aaron introduced us to some incredible people who made our research trip absolutely amazing. His network of friends and associates on the island are second to none. Add to the fact that he speaks Hawaiian almost fluently, deeply understands and respects the island’s history and culture, and you have someone who can help you understand Kauai and Hawaii in ways that most visitors never would. Through Aaron, I was introduced to Patrick Kelley and Matt Feeser of Kauai Adventure Photography Workshops, quite simply the best experience in Kaui (and all of Hawaii) for discovering the island and its wonders with your camera, and learning digital photography in ways you never imagined.
If you’re planning a trip to Kauai, and I cannot recommend that enough, be sure to contact Aaron at 800-380-5282. Aaron and his associates can help book anything from dinner reservations to helicopter tours, kayak tours, photography, as well as introduce you to and send you the best of incredible Kauai made and grown products. He will gladly answer your questions with a warm Aloha spirit, and share insights that will make your visit to The Garden Island an amazing and safe experience. We can’t recommend Aaron and ActivityKauai.com enough.
